Posted by | 12-02-2020

We’ve all been in this situation before. You might have left a carton of milk past its expiration date and it becomes spoilt. Leftovers from a few days ago have become moldy and reeks of an unholy stench. Never forget about these the next time you open your commercial fridge!

Commercial fridge odors are mostly caused by the buildup of mold and bacteria on food and organic products. Fridges serves as an excellent place for the growth of mold and bacteria due to the significant moisture and colder temperatures found in fridges. Remove the putrid odor from your fridge by employing our method below.

Things You Would Need

  • Tracing Paper
  • Vinegar
  • Baking Soda
  • Piece of cloth or scrubbing sponge
  • Coffee powder or oats
  • Dish soap

Steps to Get Rid of Bad Smells

Firstly, it is essential to remove everything in the fridge, including the shelves and food items. Discard any food products that may be spoiled or expired. Using a piece of cloth or sponge soaked in soap water, wipe down every surface found in the fridge. This includes the interior of the fridge, shelves and food packaging.

Secondly, thoroughly clean the fridge with the use of baking soda and vinegar. This solution works as excellent odor absorbers and cleaning agents. In addition to be an all-natural alternative to cleaning solutions, the solution is also great at removing stains that are difficult to remove. Use a piece of cloth or sponge that’s soaked in this solution to wipe down the nooks and crannies of the fridge.

Thirdly, soak a piece of cloth or rag in warm water to rinse away remnants left from the baking soda and vinegar solution. Continue rinsing with warm water until you have washed away most of the residue.

Lastly, wait for the temperature in the fridge to return to its original temperature (around 41°F) before returning the food into the fridge. Speed up the cooling process by activating the fast-cool function of your fridge.

Preventing Odors

You can prevent odors in commercial fridge by applying a thin layer of baking soda on a piece of tracing paper. Leave this overnight to absorb the odors in your fridge. You could do so using coffee powder or oats, they can get the job done as well!

Another way of removing odors would be to leave air fresheners in the fridge. Besides those commercial types of air fresheners, you could try natural products as well. Leaving cotton balls soaked in vanilla or lavender oil can leave a fantastic smell in the fridge.
